Days Beyond Time – An Artist Meets Testimony
Maya & Gal Rave (Israel)
An art project that connects the first and third generations after the Holocaust and transmits the testimony of survivors to the next generation. Contemporary Israeli artists have learned the stories of former prisoners of the Terezin Ghetto and, based on personal encounters and historical context, have created artworks inspired by the testimonies of individual survivors. The testimonies are often the monologue of someone who went through the darkest stage of human history. The purpose of this project is to give a new dimension to these stories in the form of an artwork that will allow the memory to be preserved for future generations. The creative process has been captured in the form of videos, which visitors to the Festival for the Jewish Quarter of Boskovice will be able to see in the Jewish Community House. The installation will also include several reproductions of artworks.
The project was a collaboration between the artist duo Maya and Gal Rave, curator Yossi Veissid and Beit Terezin Museum in Israel, and involved the participation of survivors mostly from Czechoslovakia.
